Residence Application Service

The residence Applications must be completed in person, and the service is only available if applying within Bulgaria. Third party representation is not permitted. It is advisable to make the application as soon as you have satisfied all the eligibility requirements. When you make your application, you will also be asked to provide your biometric information for your residence card. Whilst your application is pending, you are free to travel outside of the country without having to worry that your application will be withdrawn.

Residence Application Review

After relevant information is reviewed, the application is approved or denied by a director of Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior (known in Bulgaria as SDVR) or a director of Regional Directorate of Interior (also commonly known in Bulgaria as ODMVR). You can visit your local Directorate of Interior to apply for a residence card once you have been notified by email that your residency status is approved.
